Beaded Stegosaurus Key Chain Pattern - Free Beaded Dinosaur Keyring Pattern - Fun Beaded Key Rings


 

Travel back to prehistoric times with this fun beaded Stegosaurus keychain made with pony beads and cord. With its long body, little legs and unmistakable row of plates along its back, this dinosaur is easy to recognize and fun to personalize. Choose your favorite colors to create a Stegosaurus that's anything but extinct!

Attach the finished dinosaur to a key ring, backpack, bag or zipper pull, or make one as a handmade gift for a dinosaur lover. This pony bead dinosaur also makes a great summer camp, classroom or group craft, can be made in school colors for a dinosaur mascot, or made in quantity for fundraisers.

Materials Needed:
  • 1 - Key Ring or Lanyard Hook
  • 4 yards - Suede Cord (Color of your choice)
    OR
    Cord (Item # 10006)
  • 1 - Black Pony Beads
  • 32 - Yellow Pony Beads
  • 109 - Green Pony Beads
  • Don't forget to include a few extra beads to your count if you want "dangles" at the bottom of your keychain.
  • Optional: For a stiffer critter you can include a little wire or a pipe cleaner with your cord to help keep it's shape

  • Instructions

    Connect your cord to your keyring with a Lark's Head knot.
    1. Find the half way point of the cord or wire you are using and double knot it onto the keyring. You can also use a lark's head knot (shown in photo).

    2. Begin weaving the beads onto the cord following the pattern at the top of the page. You can click on the image for a larger, better resolution photo.

    3. After finishing the pattern tie a double knot in the cords at the bottom and apply tacky glue to secure.

    4. Three or four beads can be strung onto the end of each cord as a finishing touch (This is optional and not included in the bead count in your material list.)

    5. Weave your wire or pipe cleaner through your beaded stegosaur dinosaur keychain to make it stiffer and hold it's shape.

    (Seed beads or E beads can be used in place of pony beads to create smaller characters.)
